We all get a little competitive doing the things we like or the things we are good at. When we meet strong competition, we become more analytical and alert in thinking of ways to improve and beat them.

Many may say that being competitive may break you and you should only compete with yourself. But sometimes, a little healthy competition gives you the drive you need to improve yourself and achieve better results.

The Ohio based Deontae and Deontrae Wright siblings’ competitiveness shows that healthy competition is actually not a bad thing.

Apart from looking alike, the twins have a common trait—they love a bit of competition between them.

“It all started when we were in sixth grade, when we applied for the young scholars program from Ohio State,” Deontrae told Inside Edition.

“And in order to stay in the program, we have to maintain a 3.3 GPA. So, we basically took it upon ourselves to basically see who would score the highest.”

Because of this, the boys started competing academically.

“Since then, we’ve had a competition with each other. Who would get their license first, who would score higher on tests and quizzes. And we kept the same mindset until now,” said Deontrae.

The twin brothers are high school seniors at Scott High School Ohio. Their competition kept them driven and motivated.

By trying to outscore each other, they both became top of their class.

Deontae became the valedictorian of Scott High School with a 4.5 GPA, while Deontrae became the salutatorian with a 4.4 GPA. Incredible!

Deontae said, “It felt great at the end of the day knowing our hard work paid off.”

Besides studying, the twins also volunteer with an outreach program and work part-time.

It is always heartwarming to see hard work paying off. The twins’ positive attitude towards making each other better is inspiring.
